Large multi-year guaranteed contracts for journeyman players are insane, and they will soon be a casualty of the declining economy.

The Inge contract didn't work out well at all obviously. The Peralta signing has turned out better.
Dave Dombrowski seems to have a habit of wanting to forcefully address his team's needs early in the off-season. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Certainly one wishes that he'd be more confident that he can improvise a solution later on in the off-season on occasion.
Thanks for not mentioning that recent Tiger farmhand Scott Sizemore is playing 3B for Oakland. Doh!

In today's market, $5.5 million is not a "large" contract for a player who is a superb defender who has had spurts of excellent offense.
He certainly isn't hacking it this year, but a 2 year deal doesn't leave the Tigers hanging for long.
This contract was more of a career-achievement award from a loyal and generous Mike Ilitch. But it was not Dontrelle Willis bad.
I'll be in Toledo next week. Maybe I can see him KKK in AAA.
